One of the first lesson you need to teach anyone learning to sail a dingy is how to capsize and recover. Over coming the fear of being in the water and getting the boat back up and going is a really important if the kids are going to stay safe as the learn to sailing on their own. It was quite a scary moment for me, having taught countless kids to sail it usually goes one of two way........ 1) They get upset and want to see their mum. 2) They laugh and ask if they can do it again. You need it to be a number 2 if they are going to come back for more.

With spring here it is time to get that mower ready for summer, plus cutting the grass over and over again because of dull blades sucks. Also new blades all the time can get very costly, the blades have plenty of metal to sharpen, just like your knives, you wouldn't just throw them out cause they are dull. This week the girls take over the filming for video content. Buckle up, folks. This video is all about life aboard a boat through the eyes of our daughter. :) The girls make strawberry jelly with a pressure cooker (Instant Pot/Instapot), and you can see 'most' of the steps required to do so. Chazzy (13-year-old) makes sugar cookies on board the boat and gets caught eating more of the raw dough when grandma had already said to stop. We have an unbelievably candid discussion about energy drinks, drugs, coffee, and additions. The safe and wise Chazzy gives her point of view, and sometimes the younger family members make the most sense. I continue my time in New Jersey taking care of my dad for a much more extended period than initially planned. I introduce you to CoCo the canine that has trained my dad so well over the years. I also head over to the seashore and see the surfers out, enjoying the higher winds and breaking waves. I hope you enjoy this hodgepodge video focused on a host of different topics all through the lens of Whitney, which I tend to find very funny. See you all next week when we spend some more time perfecting a cup of coffee and making smoothies to cut down on some calories by having those in place of breakfast. I have gained a few pounds up here in Jersey and want to get that heading in the other direction. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them.
