She has many of the basic system configurations, port light style, and other developments that followed hull #21, the Nordhavn 40 that circumnavigated in the 2001 “Around-the-World” voyage. She has the well-proven Nordhavn dry stack exhaust system and gravity feed fuel system, producing one of the most reliable engine systems fitted on any yacht. Castella was purchased, maintained, and continually improved by her original owners. Castella has spent her life exploring Southeast Alaska, Southern California, and has been as far south as Huatulco, Mexico. She has paravane stabilizers providing simple, effective stabilization when needed, and increased fuel efficiency when stowed. The owners report a deployment time of approximately 3 minutes, and a retrieval time of 5 minutes. An added benefit of the paravane system is that it is also effective at anchor. The head, with separate stall shower is to starboard and the guest stateroom is to port. Engine room access is through the guest cabin, although there is a mechanic’s and egress hatch in the salon. At the forward end of the passageway is the master stateroom. The master has a centerline double bed. The engine room of the Nordhavn 40 II series is legendary for its space and systems organization.

Ahoy Friends! I am VERY stoked to present to you my first sailing book; SIX NIGHTS ON THE HOOK AT SANTA CRUZ ISLAND. I have published a number of books in the past and worked as a writer for both in print and online publications but this is my first, of many, books on the subject of sailing. SIX NIGHTS is perfect bound paperback book with 133 pages. It features all of my journals from my first solo sailing trip and solo anchoring experiences. This trip came 8 months after I first bought Triteia and 5 months after I had gotten her back into sailing condition. This trip was documented in video episodes first here on my channel as Season 2. The book goes a bit deeper into what I was thinking, my highs and my lows and describes things that may have been passed over in the short video episodes.
