Canadian Ken and I had to go check her out - she is about an hour away up in Winterport, ME, along the Penobscot River, an hour's sail to the open bay. She's hull #1 of the venerable Southern Cross 39 sailboats, designed by Thomas Gillmer (designer of the Allied Seawind Ketch, the 1st fiberglass sailboat to circumnavigate the globe!), and built by C.E. Ryder down in Rhode Island in 1981. She was factory finished, which is nice as many of these were sold as kits. She also has an Airex cored hull, a relatively new method at the time, perfected by C.E Ryder (it's closed cell Airex), deemed to be very strong and durable. The decks are balsa cored. This Southern Cross 39 is not perfect. She needs some work, but it appears to be mostly cosmetic and the pricing reflects this. These boats usually sell for much, much more - at least double this asking price. So, if you're a DIY sailor looking for a boat that needs a little TLC - but could probably take you around the world as is - this boat might be for you! Von der davor liegenden großen Fläche führen zwei mit Kalk bedeckte Dammstraßen zu vier großen Wohngebieten, die vor allem von Adeligen bewohnt wurden. Das einfache Volk besaß als Unterkünfte nur einfache Pfahlbauten. Die Anordnung der Gebäude und Komplexe nach dem viergeteilten Schema spiegelt das Weltbild der Maya wider. Die vier Wohnbezirke stellen die vier Himmelsrichtungen dar.
