Startknopf drücken, Lüfter brummt — aber der Motor startet nicht. Das ist der schlimmste Moment auf einem Segelboot kurz vor dem Ablegen. Ich war vier Tage mit ChatGPT und einem Messplan im Motorraum der La Licorne und habe dabei mehr über Relais, Klemmen und Kabelbaum-Diagnose gelernt als in all den Jahren davor. Das Relais klickt, Klemme 87 schaltet durch — aber das Signal kommt vom Paneel unten am Relais einfach nicht an. Und auf der Strecke von Klemme 87 zu Klemme 50 des Einrückmotors ist irgendwo im Kabelbaum etwas unterbrochen. Den Kabelbaum aufschneiden kommt nicht infrage — deshalb verlege ich ein Hilfskabel direkt neben dem Kabelbaum, Amel-konform, zweipolig, Masse bleibt weg vom Motor. Das Wichtigste, was ich dabei gelernt habe: Ein Relais ist nichts anderes als ein Fernschalter — und das hat alles verändert. Construction includes carbon infusion, with Airex closed cell foam sandwich and carbon reinforcement.  Beneath the waterline the hull has been reinforced with Twaron and there is protection against osmosis with the use of Vinylester resin.  The bulkheads, the deck and the binimi have been reinforced with carbon fibre in order to gain more rigidity and increased performance on the wind and at speed. The interior has been designed for comfort and long-term cruising.    Kallima is an exceptional long distance sailing catamaran combining elegance, performance and seaworthiness.   This has been demonstrated by the first owners who cruised the Pacific Ocean from north to south for 5 years and sailing some 30,000nm.   More recently with her current owners through French Polynesia, Islands of Fiji and New Zealand, then back to Fiji. Ciao Bella is an impressive Hanse 505 listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Sydney Harbour. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/hanse-505-ciao-bella Launched in 2015, this is the generation of Hanse’s that arguably solidified the brand as one of the largest and most successful sailing yacht builders globally. Few others have so magically been able to blend, performance, ease of handling, and cruise functionality. The Judel / Vrolijk designed hull is responsive and efficient. In Ciao Bella we have an example optimized for performance while also staying true to the design – that is an incredibly easy to handle quick cruiser. In 2023 a major rigging refit was undertaken. This included a Harken switch track being installed on the mast – this makes sail pack up a breeze. A traveler was added on the coachroof (not in the cockpit). Additional winches were installed so there are six in total, four are electric. Additional Garmin instrument displays were neatly installed on the coachroof which complement the comprehensive nav pack – two plotters, auto-pilot, VHF and HF, plus Iridium Go. Below decks the space is light, airy, functional and beautiful. There are three double cabins plus a very practical utility room / storage cabin. The large owners cabin is forward with island berth and completely separated head and shower spaces. The galley and saloon are nicely divided by the centre island seating with storage and retractable TV. Refrigeration was upgraded on original order to there are two large drawer fridges plus drawer freezer. The safety package is well above expectations with the yacht having previously met CAT 1 racing standards. The sail wardrobe is equally above what would be expected with new carbon main in 2023 plus delivery main, there is a genoa and jibs (all furling), plus furling Code 0, an asymmetric kite and four symmetric kites – more than enough to play with.
