The new HH44 a luxury, high-performance cat for cruising families and couples sailing long distance with a focus on alternative energy. Construction is a carbon-reinforced, foam composite sandwich with infused epoxy resin. The boat’s entire skeleton—bulkheads, beams, hulls, deck—is carbon fiber, with external e-glass, also epoxy infused. Daggerboards, mast, and rudders are also carbon. Twin helm placement in the cockpit let designers lower the coachroof. This lowered boom height, which translates into a lower center of effort and the ability to put more power into the sails. It also allows for a whopping 4,232 watts of solar panels on the coachroof as standard, serving a 43.2 KwH 48V lithium battery bank. This solar array is key to the primary design driver—the boat’s EcoDrive parallel hybrid propulsion system. Two 30-hp Beta diesels join two 10-kw electric motors (each about 15hp) that can be used independently as silent, fume-free, electric propulsion. They can also be used to generate power while under diesel power. And while sailing, the system can generate power through the free-spinning propeller. The new Seawind 1170, at 39 feet on the smaller end of the company’s range, is designed to be easily managed by a couple but also built fully ocean-worthy as a CE Category A multihull. The interior design is based in what Seawind has found to be proven brand characteristics—twin helms protected in the cockpit with direct communication to the salon, a clever trifold door that can lift into the overhead to fully open the space between salon and cockpit, galley down to allow maximum space for the salon, including a spacious nav station, large windows all around with sturdy opening windows forward for ventilation, and collision bulkheads. Where things have been updated are in the hulls themselves with a reverse bow for better upwind capability, a step in the topsides to allow more interior volume—especially in the aft cabins—and more headroom throughout. Composite and structural engineering is by New Zealand-based Gurit, who also engineered the 1160 and 1260. All the tooling is new; hulls are fully infused with vinylester resin, and carbon reinforces key structural areas to minimize weight while enhancing performance. The first few hulls were built at Seawind’s operation in Vietnam, but the tooling has been shipped to a new, 56,000-foot facility and customer service center on the Aegean Sea in Turkey, where the 1170 is now being built. @SeawindCatamarans

The time has therefore come for Windelo to increase their production capacity (soon 6 units per year). A process which implies in the long term the need to increase the size of the premises and in the immediate future to have deck molds much less greedy in parts (3 as opposed to 21!). The opportunity is therefore perfect to restyle their first two models, the 50 (that will be on show at Cannes) and 54. This mission was logically entrusted to the Barreau/Neuman team, assisted by Charlotte Schiffer. The main idea was to use the wave theme already present on the sides of the hull for the deck. Beyond the cosmetic alterations, the coachroof has been revised to improve drainage and to moderate its square appearance: the forward face has been reworked with two hatches slightly angled aft and inversed. The top of the coachroof now has a “cap” appearance, all the more evident with it now being extended aft. The rear platform and the sugarscoops are also more elegant. The forward cockpit dedicated to sailing maneuvers has been improved. The latest addition to the Balance family was launched at the Royal Cape Yacht Club in Cape Town in March 2022, before being validated during seatrials under sail at the beginning of April. A few months later, the 442 was presented to the public in the USA - we were able go for a test sail in Annapolis last year. Like her big sistership, the 482, the Balance 442 has “broken” bows, i.e. straight near the waterline then inverted as they approach deck level. This new model also features the famous mobile helm station already seen on the 526 - the low position allows the helmsman to be perfectly protected. Thanks to the 442’s contained displacement, she achieved averages of 12 to 13 knots and nice peaks that topped 15. The DeFever 53 Performance Offshore Cruiser was designed by Arthur DeFever to meet the demands of owners looking for a manageable coastal cruiser operated by a couple without crew that could cruise at a good speed and fuel economy but still have the range to explore off the beaten path. At the same time it had to have enough space for family and guests to live aboard for weeks or months at a time. An evolution of the 52 Offshore Cruiser, the 53 POC was designed to carry less fuel and water, but have less weight, a semi-displacement hull, and more horsepower. What evolved was a boat with a higher cruising speed than the full-displacement 52, capable of cruising at a stately 10 knots with an 800 mile range. Thanks to the flush deck design the interior is spacious and there is a standing-headroom engine room. Three staterooms to accommodate up to six, each with an ensuite head, are below deck, and include a private owners full-beam aft cabin with a separate stairwell from the guests quarters forward. On deck there is a large aft cockpit with wrap around three-sided canvas and forward side passageway doors for all weather entertaining or relaxation. The spacious saloon and galley are aft of the pilothouse. In the galley all of the major appliances have been upgraded to matching Kenmore Elite. There are matching port and starboard sidewalks that lead from the cockpit to the bow, where there is large space for deck gear as well as a large sofa. The pilothouse has port and starboard side doors. Up top on the bridge deck there is a second helm station with wrap around seating under the bimini. The bridge also includes a BBQ station with electric grill, sink and refrigerator. Aft of there is the Zodiac tender with crane plus two paddleboards with holders. Link to Listing
