On my third research journey up the length of Japan, I’ve returned to Matsue Castle in Shimane Prefecture — the region that’s ranked number one in Japan for twelve consecutive years for the number of centenarians per 100,000 people. Just 48 hours ago, I left my boat in Amami, flew to Tokyo to surprise my son on his birthday, and then took two long trains to reach Shimane, where I’ll be spending the week writing, soaking up the atmosphere, and conducting more interviews for my upcoming book on longevity and community in Japan. A longer video is coming soon with updates from the past few months — including some sailing adventures — but for now, here’s a glimpse of where the next chapter of this journey unfolds. Remember, it’s never too late to get out and about.
Experience the thrill of sailing yacht racing — wind roaring, sails snapping, and crews working in perfect sync. From high-speed turns to close calls, this is where skill meets chaos on the open sea. Captured in cinematic realism with ocean spray, natural lighting, and pure adrenaline! ⛵🌊 #Sailing #SailingRace #YachtLife #AdrenalineSailing #OceanAdventure #SailingVibes #EpicSailing #YachtRacing #SeaAction #WindAndWave #SailingLife #OceanPower #RegattaRacing #SailingMoments #SailingVideo
EW, BROTHER EWWW! So let’s talk about something that happens more often than you'd think—getting messages from guys who want to *move in* to my tiny 29ft sailboat. Yep, you heard that right. My *one-bedroom* sailboat. I get it, life at sea is appealing, but can we all agree that inviting yourself to move into someone else's floating shoebox is... a bit much? 😂 I thought the trending TikTok sound "ew, brother, ew” fits perfectly (even though I’m a bit late to this trend). Honestly, that's exactly how I feel when these requests pop up in my DMs or comment section. Trust me, it's a no from me, but thanks for the offer! I know many people are joking, but others seem a bit more serious, so I just wanted to make something clear: My videos are not an open invite into my privacy. While I love sharing my sailing adventures and lifestyle with y’all, this little boat is my home, and there’s no room for uninvited guests. So please, let’s keep it light and fun - ask me anything about this lifestyle and how you can get started yourself, but no moving in requests, okay? 😅 Cheers guys, Kristina
Ever wonder how we turn ocean water into drinking water? 🌊💧Here on La Vagabonde we use a @spectrawatermakers8283 watermaker, powered by solar, to desalinate seawater. It’s compact, super energy-efficient, and honestly, one of the most important systems we rely on out here. From sea to sip in a few easy steps. Let us know in the comments if you’d trust your water supply to a machine in the middle of the ocean?
