Then we discovered something unexpected: some of the most exciting encounters were waiting right along the rocky shore. Free-diving in the shallower water, we began spotting life we never expected to find so close to land. Fish appeared among the volcanic rocks, and then, suddenly, a curious sea turtle came into view. But the surprises didn’t stop there. Just when we thought the dive couldn’t get any better, we spotted a stingray gliding far below us… and then came one of the strangest encounters of the dive: a mimic octopus that suddenly dashed away, spraying a cloud of black ink! What started as a search for the best diving offshore turned into an unforgettable exploration of the underwater world right beside the island.
