We Lived in Alaska for 20 Years - and Never Did This

Todd’s medical emergency put our plans to return to the sailboat on hold. Still in Alaska, we’re finding our footing again and finally making time for something we overlooked during all the years we lived here. We’re joining family on a 4x4 trip toward Knik Glacier, where the water decides how far we can go. Back at our 50-year-old school bus, giant painted daisies are turning it into a colorful Alaska home base, and I’m setting my sights on a 40-mile hike. We still hope to return to the boat after hurricane season. For now, there’s plenty right in front of us, and a few things we won’t know until we try.
