We Found the BRIGHTEST Bioluminescent Bay on Earth! Vieques (Family Sailing Caribbean) E378

Not every stop is planned… and sometimes those are the best ones. We dropped anchor in Puerto Patillas, Puerto Rico and were blown away. A peaceful anchorage, a waterfront park with a playground (perfect for homeschooling days), live music, and even iguanas roaming around—it quickly became one of those unexpected favorites. But the real goal? Vieques Island. After a rolly night in Esperanza, we moved to the calm anchorage of Puerto Ferro—and that’s when the adventure really began. A long dinghy ride in the dark brought us to Mosquito Bay, the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world… and it did NOT disappoint. Every movement lit up the water in glowing blue. One of the most surreal experiences we’ve ever had. We wrapped it up exploring Puerto Ferro—hiking, paddleboarding through mangroves, and even spotting baby spotted eagle rays.
