How much does it actually cost to deliver a luxury catamaran halfway around the world? After helping deliver Amelia, a Privilege 585 catamaran, more than 10,500 nautical miles from Grenada to Dubai, I sat down with owners Karl and Michele to break down every major expense from the voyage. Together we go through the real numbers behind the delivery—including captain and crew fees, fuel, provisioning, port fees, the Suez Canal transit, repairs, and replacement equipment. By the end, the total comes to $77,500, although there's an interesting debate over whether another $30,000 in repairs and spare parts should really be counted as part of the delivery costs. We also revisit one of the most unforgettable moments of the trip: losing their $10,000 dinghy in the middle of the Atlantic. Karl shares his candid (and surprisingly funny) reaction after watching the footage again. If you've ever wondered what it truly costs to move a yacht across the world—or what it's like from the owner's perspective—this conversation offers a rare behind-the-scenes look.
