Waking up to 20 Canoes... Our Boat Became a Floating Market! 🍍🛶 We arrived in Wilson Harbor under the glow of a full moon, having spent the day ghosting along at a mere 2 knots. We thought we’d finally found a quiet place to rest, but the sunrise had other plans. We were woken by a rhythmic tapping on the hull. Looking outside, we found ourselves surrounded by a fleet of canoes. Within minutes, Skateaway was transformed into a bustling floating market. From piles of fresh papaya and greens to intricate wood carvings, the intensity of the trading was like nothing we’ve ever experienced. But the commerce quickly turned to connection. A family arrived to serenade us with Christmas carols, gifting us handmade palm-leaf hats and floral leis—a beautiful moment of island hospitality. However, life on a catamaran in the Solomon Islands comes with a unique set of challenges. In this episode, we share the honest reality of living in a "boundary-less" culture. While the intentions are almost always good, the constant, uninvited visitors on deck can make your home feel like a public space. We wrap up the adventure by exploring a sunken American WWII wreck and finding peace beneath the surface with a pod of local dolphins.
