SAILING ILLUSTRATED #903 (Fri 23 Jan 2026) — Peter Shipway (AUS) is a celebrated yachtsman and yacht racing commentator in Australia and beyond. He is a Life Member of the Cruising YC of Australia who the club says, "...has been a valued member and contributor for over 50 years." Peter has an amazing Ocean racing record including 31 Sydney Hobart Yacht Races, having crewed on yachts with two overall victories and five line-honours; racing in eight Admiralʼs Cup series, one as the Australian Team Captain, with one team victory plus a second and a third overall; and crewing on the challenger AUSTRALIA in the 1980 America's Cup. Peter is also famous as a commentator for major yachting events including the annual Sydney-Hobart telecast, and the 18-Footer League.
