Sailing Saoirse - Our Covid-19 Update | Week 3| we made our own bathroom (head) floors! (EP20)

-- WEEK 3 of our COVID-19 LOCKDOWN! -- We are getting a little confident with our fiberglassing skills! We have made our own head floors! During this time in lockdown we haven't been able to bring people in to help us with some of our projects so we have had to try and do them ourselves. What's the worst that could happen? We don't want to sit around wasting time while waiting for lockdown to end (who even knows when that will be considering we were just told that we have an extra 14 days being added onto our lockdown) so we are getting crafty. We work on getting our head floors made by making molds of the heads and fiberglassing over the molds. We then fiberglass them into the bilges along with fiberglassing the rest of the heads to get them ready for painting. This has not been as simple as our video makes it seem, there were a lot of sleepless nights for Robin as he planned out everything that needed to be done in order to make a mold that would invert the floor into the right shape to fit the shower drains and make sure that they are leveled in a way that water won't accumulate on any point of the floor. We then fiberglass bandages, peel ply and fiberglass micro balloons to make sure everything is secured in place in the bathroom, on the floors and the plumbing. Next week we will show you the results of removing the peel ply. We paint our anchor chain in increments so it's easier to see how much chain we are letting out at a time. This is hard because we have to run the chain under the yacht and onto the dock behind Saoirse in order to paint the chain on a flat surface. As we use our time wisely to get the jobs done that we can during lock down, Grumpy the seagull is going a little loopy...
