Sailing Reverie - 1985 Pearson 34 Sailboat Restoration - Working on the Hull (Bottom)!

I was finally able to get Reverie, our Pearson 34 #sailboat, on the yard to start working on the #restoration of the #hull. What I found was a lot of gelcoat blisters and a rudder needing repair. The blisters look worse than what they are. There are all surface related which means they are only at the level of the gelcoat. No delamination issues. So I will fair most of it, sand it , and put 3 coats of good barrier paint and 2 coats of bottom paint. The rudder is another issue. It moves about 2 inches on the rudder post , which means the steel inside the rudder is broken. It seems the rudder was repaired before, so I think I only have one choice which is to have a new rudder made. Maybe is time for a road trip to California to Fuss Rudders. We'll see. Also will need a new propeller as this one has damage from electrical current. More updates to come soon.
