This film brings you back to 1990. Around the Americas was an expedition by sailboat Asma around the North and South American continents. Clark Stede and Michelle Poncini departed Germany sailing the 43-foot aluminium boat Asma. Their aim was to make America's first circumnavigation. In the second part: The Northwest passage Vancouver Island Sailing down to San Francisco Mexico Equador Chilie Sailing through Patagonia In 1993 on the day when they cross the line their logbook wrote: "A wonderful feeling that The circle of a dream closes, the circumnavigation of America has become a reality ". America's first circumnavigation was over. In our wake lay the Northwest Passage, the western coasts of America, the magical Cape Horn, the white splendor of Antarctica, South America, the Caribbean and the east coast of the USA. And in the 1300 days we experienced the extremes of our planet at 38,000 nautical miles: lulls and storms. Tropical heat. Icebergs and pack ice. The wonderful, most diverse landscapes. The spectrum America, from 75 degrees 38 minutes north to 65 degrees 35 minutes south, rewarded us with a lot more: the people and the peoples of America that we got to know. We experienced the peoples and their cultures up close. The film was made by Guenther Berauer, Clark Stede and Michelle Poncini. That’s why you see it on Umadum sailing.
