SAILING AND CUSTOMS IN BOCAS - SWT 130 - IS BOCAS NO LONGER PART OF PANAMA?

In this episode, we were boarded by the customs at anchor. What can you bring and what can you not bring into Panama? When trying to check in we were told to go back to BE FREE and be in quarantine until we were cleared... The Customs was actually quite polite and friendly. However this time I was told by the port captain that I also had to clear out of Bocas with a Zarpe before sailing to the Colon district. We were even told we had to go to the airport for exit stamps on our passports. Luckily the personnel at the airport customs and immigration is a bit more qualified and updated. There we got it confirmed. No need for exit stamps there, and my guess is you really don't need a Zarpe from Bocas either as long as you are sailing inside Panama. I really like Bocas del Toro and wanted to show Gee lots of nice places on our short stopover en route to Shelter Bay Marina. Unfortunately, all this additional buro-crazy stole lots of our time here, and we even chose to go one day earlier as we kind of lost our interest in Bocas this time.
