Sailing Adventures with Grandad|E1

This Episode is the introduction to SAILING ADVENTURES WITH GRANDAD! The protagonists: I am Grandad Michael, 73, lifetime sailor, wannabe creator for YouTube, retired businessman, practicing yogi, father of 4, grandad of 5, amateur chef, and contented bachelor. I live in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. My sailboat is Vayu, in Sanskrit the name stands for wind or life force. Vayu is a 44 ft X-Yacht (X-442) sloop, born 2002 in Denmark. The Adventure: During this first season from now to the end of 2022, a sailing journey from Mallorca Eastward in the Mediterranean and share this journey of life with family and friends. After every day my attitude is …."lo que sera sera"….and so far its been amazing. We left Palma the first week of June and headed for Palermo in Sicily. And the journey continues. This Episode One (Ep 1) As I continue with a myriad of details prepping Vayu and myself for our departure in June (4 weeks!!!! YIKES !!!) we do a trial of a new Storm Jib. I also share with you my indecision about going forward with this journey when the tragic war in Ukraine broke out. It seems and is so frivolous when our European neighbors are facing so much tragedy. As I needed to go to Mexico I took my time there to think about this question and reflect. I decided that I am going ahead with my plans. I am fortunate, in my health, my economy, my ability and my knowledge to be able to do this journey. And each one of us has only one life to live, and the clock is ticking. With this in mind I decided that not to celebrate this life and go forward with this plan would be wrong. I also decided that financially I would contribute to one of the many worthy organizations helping people on the spot. I chose to make my own financial contributions to Save the Children-Ukraine. And decided to dedicate this channel to SAILING FOR PEACE. I am aware that my contribution is a little bit for the enormity of what is happening, but perhaps if each of us does just a little bit, millions of little bits can help. This Channel , SAILING ADVENTURES WITH GRANDAD , is about this journey and how, baring poor health or personal misfortune, age is no obstacle to living with enthusiasm, ilusión, dreams, curiosity and perspective. And also a novice creators attempt at sharing this exciting life journey on YouTube. So this is not a lone journey but one I want to share with friends, family and all who care to come along for the ride.
