Rocking Manhattan 2016

Rocking Manhattan is the main fundraiser for Rocking the Boat and is the adventure of a lifetime: a full-day, 29½ mile row around the entire island of Manhattan in traditionally built Whitehall gigs! In keeping with tradition over the past seven years, 10-12 teams of rowers will fundraise to support Rocking the Boat’s innovative youth development programs in wooden boatbuilding, sailing, rowing, and environmental science in the South Bronx. Rocking the Boat empowers young people from the South Bronx to develop the self-confidence to set ambitious goals and gain the skills necessary to achieve them. Students work together to build wooden boats, learn to row and sail, and restore local urban waterways, revitalizing their community while creating better lives for themselves. Kids don't just build boats, boats build kids.
