Rencontre avec Damien Seguin, Groupe APICIL | Vendée Globe 2024

🇫🇷 Né sans main gauche, Damien Seguin est devenu en 2021 le premier skipper handisport à boucler un tour du monde en solitaire, sans escale et sans assistance. Triple médaillé paralympique en 2.4 mR, il a fait ses débuts dans la course au large en 2005 en Figaro puis en Class 40 avant de rejoindre le circuit IMOCA en 2018. Déterminé et en recherche constante de progression, Damien a su convaincre que son handicap n’était pas un frein à la performance. Lors de son premier Vendée Globe terminé en 7e position, il a marqué les esprits en jouant très souvent aux avant-postes. Pour 2024, il aspire à de nouvelles ambitions sportives à bord de son foiler. 🇬🇧 Born without left hand, Damien Seguin became in 2021 the first disabled skipper to complete a solo, non-stop, unassisted round the world race. A three-time Paralympic medallist in the 2.4mR class, he entered offshore racing in 2005 in the Figaro and then the Class 40 before joining the IMOCA circuit in 2018. Determined and constantly looking to progress, Damien has managed to convince people that his handicap is not a brake on performance. During his first Vendée Globe, which he finished in 7th place, he made a big impression by often playing at the front of the fleet.
