Queen Charlotte Track on Foot | 17 km From Ship Cove

In this episode, we walk 17 km of the Queen Charlotte Track, from Ship Cove to the Furneaux Lodge. We arrive by road, water taxi, and finally on foot—reflecting on movement, fitness, and the quiet mental work that happens when the body becomes the vessel again. Ship Cove—known as Meretoto—has been a place of arrival for a long time. Long before tracks and water taxis, it offered shelter from the rough open sea. Captain Cook returned here on all of his New Zealand voyages in the 1770s, spending more time at this cove than anywhere else in Aotearoa. Sailing in, walking out—different centuries, similar intentions. To move through a place, not just past it.
