Pycno Patrol #1 | Midnight Diving In Monterey Bay
It's been six years since Monterey Bay last had a *documented* sunflower starfish sighting, but recently, rumors have spread of a few Pycnopodia helianthoides bb's recruiting to Oregonian reefs and even here in my California backyard. So last week we went for a midnight dive at the Breakwater to see about finding us a Seasquatch.... Spoiler: None were found, but we did have a bioluminescent plankton bloom, sailfin sculpins, bocaccio rockfish, heart crabs, umbrella crabs, a teeeeeeeny tiny octopus, and a thornback ray! Always a good time divingThanks to everyone who showed up! More Pycno patrols to come!!
