Palau - Diving Chandelier Cave

1,524 Ansichten· 14/02/15

In a small bay near Malakal Island, near the city of Koror, Palau, there is a natural cave tucked away behind the yacht moorings, in a place you would never guess such a cave could exist. The water depth at the entrance of the cave is only about 8 feet (2.5m), but as you scuba toward the entrance, you see a dark hole in rock that descends into an immense chamber to a depth of over 60ft (18m). But the attraction is above you; if you ascend, you can come up into an air chamber with natural white, orange and gray stalactites hanging from the ceiling and sparkling in the light from your torch. Now you know why it’s called Chandelier Cave. The reflection of these on the surface of the water is magical. But there’s more! In fact, if you duck back under water, and continue, you’ll find three more chambers into which you can ascend into the air. The water is crystal clear, and divers look surreal suspended in “space” with this eerie otherworldly background surrounding them. A great dive, easy to do, and you don’t need to pay the Rock Island Park permit to do it! Filmed in December 2014.
