Yacht journalist Dick Durham sits down with Kraken Yachts founder Dick Beaumont to discuss the recent capsize of the Oyster 825 "Viva La Vida," which suffered severe keel damage during Hamilton Island Race Week in Australia, off the coast of the Whitsunday Islands on 21 August 2026. All ten crew on board were safely evacuated with no injuries reported. In this conversation, Dick Beaumont sets out why he believes bolt-on keels pose a fundamental safety risk to bluewater sailors, and why Kraken's fully integral Zero Keel design was engineered specifically to remove that risk altogether.
