Offshore to the Caribbean: Taking departure

14,232 Bekeken· 08/12/18

I move into a slip at Hampton Public Piers for a night, primarily to charge up my battery bank as the shorter days and persistent cloud cover have cut my solar generation to a trickle. So the first challenge is to get the boat back out on anchor without scratching any of my fresh topside paint. I opt for the safe route of running out a kedge and pulling her clear of the slips before attempting any further maneuvers. Following that we are back out on anchor (no scratches) in the Hampton river, but cannot head out to sea yet as a strong low pressure system approaches from the south. Finally, on Friday, November 16, we have clear weather and a decent forecast to head offshore. WEBSITE: https://www.boothbyboats.com TIP JAR: https://www.paypal.me/KevinBoothby
