Moving Aboard our Sailboat & Freedom Party | Sailing Soulianis - Ep. 7

The Tartan 37 is ours, and it’s time to celebrate! With the 4th of July arriving just days after we close on the boat, we decide it’s rather fitting to pop some bubbly and celebrate our own new-found freedom… from land! The hardest part of moving aboard is figuring out where to put our stuff. Fortunately we had already done most of our downsizing when we left California a half year prior. We learn how to cook on our alcohol stove and adjust to our “front door” raising and lowering 3 feet depending on the height of the river. Being connected to shore power makes it feel more like we’re living in a teeny tiny apartment with misshapen cabinet spaces. After a week of living on our sailboat, we start to settle in. We figure out where our new workspaces are (the salon table, the chart table) and get most of our stuff stowed away.
