Life in Port Protection, Alaska | Living Aboard Our Sailboat in the Dead of Winter

This week we’re working and living in Port Protection, Alaska, spending time in one of Southeast Alaska’s smallest and most isolated communities while living aboard our sailboat. Port Protection is best known to many from television, but what we experienced was something quieter and more personal - a winter walk through the village boardwalks, skiff travel through the back bay, time spent with locals, and hands-on work helping a year round resident build his home using local cedar milled right on site.
