LEAVING AFRICA SAILING THE ATLANTIC TO St HELENA
Leaving Africa for a remote mid-Atlantic rock aka St Helena In this episode, we leave the shores of Namibia behind and set off on the first leg of our biggest ocean adventure yet - a 1240 mile sail to the remote island of St Helena. This tiny volcanic outpost in the middle of the most isolated inhabited islands on earth, and we're aiming to reach it in about two weeks at sea. But before we dive into life on passage, we learn the hard way way no one visits Dune 7 sandhill in the middle of the day and take you back inland, to Spitzkoppe, the stunning granite peaks often dubbed the "Matterhorn of Namibia." Thanks to the rare rains , the barren landscape had been transformed into a lush, green oasis, unlike anything we expected to see in the Namib desert. Join us for the start of this epic journey, full of shifting sands, Atlantic swells, and the excitement and nerves of heading out into the open ocean once again, just as Finn, our eldest son, continues living his dream on the water, at the NZ national beach sprints rowing championships.
