Winning was not the only thing that mattered at the 2021 Youth Sailing World Championships. Encouraging and nuturing new talent is clearly important for the helth and success of the sport but so too is providing opportunities for those in countries where simply getting afloat is harder. Former Olympic sailor and now coach Tanya Elias Calles explains how the hotbed of world championship competition can help those who are climbing the learning curve, while some of the sailors describe their experiences.
