Installing a Brother HL3045CN printer in Linux Mint

I bought a Brother HL3045CN color laser printer and had some issues installing it. Even though brother has Linux drivers on it's website for the model I found they didn't work in Linux Mint. The drivers were for Ubuntu and Debian and I tried both. Mint had a list of Brother printers when I tried to add it manually but not the model I have. I found out you can install a ppd file for a printer and I found a ppd file for the 3045 on Github. I chose to install via ppd under add printers and it worked.
