Getting to This Surf Spot Wasn’t Easy (Sailboat Life)

We didn’t even know this wave existed… After spotting something from the drone, we made the call to go for it , even if it meant leaving Stella anchored in a shallow coral lagoon with zero room for error. While one of us stayed back to watch the boat, the other paddled out to a wave we’d never seen before… in a place where no one else was around for miles. But getting there wasn’t easy. We had to land the dinghy on the opposite side of the island, ask permission from a local family, and hike through the jungle — hoping it would all be worth it. And somehow… it was. Perfect, empty waves breaking over shallow reef — the kind of surf you dream about… but rarely find. Out here, it’s always a balance of risk and reward. And this time… it paid off. After the surf, we head into a local village in search of food, meet some incredible people, and end the day back on Stella — where real life kicks back in (yes… laundry included). We always try to live as lightly as possible out here, using eco-friendly products that are safe for the ocean and reef we depend on.
