Enjoying a carefree life on the endless big blue? Spending lazy days anchored off white coral beaches while you sip a cold one? That's what we thought in 2005 when we started living on s/y Esper. Since then, we've sailed from Turkey to Thailand via some of the most dangerous waters on the planet, and have to admit it's not always been plain sailing. Our videos tell it like it is, with a close-up of what spending every day on a yacht means, including all the cock-ups, blunders and downright daft decisions. ****************************** So why do we need your help? We want to continue sharing our good fortunes and misadventures with you, but we want to improve, and for that we need better equipment. That's why we have created a Patreon crowdfunding page. Imagine how more exciting our videos would be if they included things like underwater and aerial footage? And how about some fancier editing techniques? We love putting together each episode of our adventures, and since you enjoy our videos more than anything else we produce, we want to find a way to make them better. ****************************** And that's where Patreon steps in. Other crowdsourcing companies like Kickstarter raise funds for big projects and famous names. But Patreon funds everyday creators who are just doing it for the love. It was put together for people like us, who produce bitesize chunks of work on a regular basis. ****************************** Here's how it works: - have a look at our followtheboat page on the Patreon website; - sign up and 'pledge' an amount for each video we produce; it's a bit like leaving a tip at the end of a good meal, - this can be as little as $2 a video. - Each time we upload a video Patreon does the work and your "pledge" is automatically sent to us. - Don't worry, you can cap the amount you spend each month. So if we bring out ten videos in one month, and you've pledged $2 for each one, you don't have to end up with a $20 bill. You can set a monthly limit of, say $2. Or $4. Or $100! That's what's so great about Patreon, it's flexible. (By the way, we average 2 videos per month, sometimes more, sometimes less.) - And as a patron, you get fringe benefits, like: photos of the month, handwritten postcards, Esper T shirts, original photography calendars, name credits on our videos and even the chance to come on holiday aboard Esper with us! ****************************** We have to be honest here, everyone reacts well to appreciation, so knowing you're behind us will mean we'll be even more inspired to come up with new ideas and content. Of course, our videos and website will continue to remain free to everyone, that's a given.
