Fixing a Flat Tire Without a Spare - HOW TO DIY

In this video, we go over how to repair a flat tire without removing the wheel and using a spare. There are several advantages to this – In the case of the MINI S, there is no spare tire. Also, if you don’t have to jack up the car, there is less danger and less heavy tools involved. In addition, it can be faster and the prep work can be done inside the car if the weather is bad. Some may wonder about the longevity of a tire plug, and you should probably get the tire serviced as soon as possible, but I have gone an entire season with a plugged tire without any issues at all. If you live in an area that is prone to leaving things in your tires and you aren’t using your car for track work, it can be a very cost effective way to get back on the road quickly and safely. Plugs cannot be used on the side of the tire or if the hole is more of a slice. They can only be used in the flat tread area. The plugs can be a bit of a struggle to get in and I think a good bit of rubber glue can help you get the plug in easier. Make sure to ream the hole a good bit and change out your tire kit from time to time.
