The sailing season is quickly coming to an end in the Chesapeake Bay. Pleasure boaters have long since hauled out, others are heading south to warmer waters, while the commercial waterman continue plying their trade to keep our appetites satisfied with fresh local seafood. The winds were light, the temperatures brisk, but the colors of autumn were dazzling. Toni and I braved the 40-degree weather and took "Moments in Time" out for probably its last sail of the season. We wanted to head to the Choptank River but the weather was just not cooperating so we headed up the Patuxent River and into St Leonard Creek before dropping the anchor in the familiar St Johns Creek where we will just live on the boat for a few days and chill-lax.
