Episode 49 - Return to Battle Creek - Where it Began

I grew up on the Patuxent River. Spent my early years on the old Belt Farm just north of Broome's Island and later in life, off of Long Cove, which is off of Battle Creek, which is off the Patuxent River, at Prison Point. Toni and I spent many days sailing, canoeing, and fishing these waters. This was like coming back home. We were unprepared for the flood of memories as we dropped anchor in the waters of our youth. Toni promised the recipe for the Grilled Vegetables that we cooked during this episode. This recipe is really about the marinade: Steak (we always prefer Ribeyes) Fresh Vegetables Yellow Squash Zucchini Various Peppers Onions Egg Plant if available Marinade ½ cup olive oil ¼ cup apple cider vinegar 2 cloves of garlic 1 tsp leaf oregano 1 tsp leaf thyme 1 tsp salt ½ tsp red pepper ½ tsp paprika ½ tsp black pepper Instructions: Chunk the vegetables to preferred size Combine/Mix marinade Ingredients Combine marinade and vegetables in Ziplock bag, press any air out of bag Combine marinade and steaks in separate Ziplock bag, press any air out of bag It is best to marinade overnight in refrigerator Instructions Start grilling vegetables, as vegetables get close to completing Add steaks to grill and continue until your preferred doneness Plate steaks and bury steak with the vegetables Serve with nice full bodied red wine such as an old vine Zinfandel Bon Appetit !!!
