Episode 101 - "Moments in Time" gets the Spa Treatment

After sailing “Moments in Time” around the Chesapeake Bay and down the coast to Florida for two and a half years, the old girl finally hinted that it was time for some classic boat TLC. Warmer winter waters had turned her bottom paint into a buffet for marine freeloaders, and everything below the waterline looked like it had hosted a barnacle family reunion. A haul out was no longer optional—it was an act of love. First order of business: raising the waterline in the stern by two inches. The factory must’ve assumed everyone installs a generator up front—we didn’t, so she always looked like she was wearing saggy pants. Then came sanding the bottom and giving her two fresh coats of Petit Triton ablative black paint, plus a bonus coat in the high wear zones. The Gori props and saildrives were so barnacle encrusted they could’ve passed as archaeological finds, so we ground them back and treated them with PellerClean instead of PropSpeed this time. Underwater lights got a dose of LightSpeed to keep the critters at bay, all zincs were swapped out, and the saildrive oil was changed. Then came the Great Pinstripe Debate. The stripe along the hulls was looking a little ratty—should we replace it or just let it retire gracefully? We chose the latter. Fenders rub it off anyway, and Moments in Time looked cleaner without it. Finally, she got the full spa treatment: wash, wax, polish—the whole makeover. A week later, she slipped back into the water looking shiny, refreshed, and more than a little proud of herself. Amazing what a good detail can do for a lady. Subscribe and share in our adventure!
