Ep8 | Kiel Canal Transit 2020 - Part 1: East Lock to Rendsburg

Do you want to know how we transited the Kiel Canal from East to West? Some of our preparation & inspiration was drawn out from the episode "How to lock-in at the Kiel Canal" of Sailors & Seadogs here: https://youtu.be/qoDUSZSWDDc In this Part 1 of our transit through the east lock near Kiel we make an overnight stop in the rain on the Eider River which veers off the canal towards Rendsburg at a little dock just across from the Eider Marina. We enjoyed this first part of our transit and didn't experience any challenges too difficult for us. (The sailboat in front of us lost a few fenders in the process, however ;) ) We sailed back and forth for about an hour & a half and ended up being nearest to the lock entrance just before the white continuous light turned from red, giving us the go-ahead to venture in. So, we got a place on the wall/dock. However, since all pleasure vessels had to tie on to the left side, we had 2 similar-sized yachts tie on to our yacht. A first for us.
