February 4, 2019. Exiting the Old Bahama Channel we are beset by contrary currents and light winds which threaten to drag us back into the busy shipping channel, as well as toward the coast of Cuba. So I spend much of the evening on deck hand steering, trying to effect whatever headway I can make given the nearly non-existent winds. Around midnight the winds fill in from the northeast, and by morning we are skirting the south side of Cay Sal. The Gulf Stream is fairly benign despite the northeasterly winds, and we arrive in Marathon Key, Florida, just after noon on February 6, having thus completed the 1,000 mile passage, anchor up to anchor down, in just under eleven days.
