E228 - Engine Failure at Sea | The Dreaded Diesel Bug

We set sail for Belitung expecting a straightforward passage, but before long one of our engines begins to fail. After investigating, we discover the culprit — the dreaded diesel bug. With contaminated fuel clogging our filters, we find ourselves troubleshooting the problem at sea. As filter after filter blocks up, we replace them and put our fuel polishing system to work, only for that to become clogged as well. Determined to keep moving, we continue toward Belitung, arriving after dark and carefully weaving our way through hundreds of fishing boats using radar to navigate safely through the maze. Once safely at anchor, the work really begins. We climb inside the fuel tank and remove the remaining diesel bug contamination, hoping to finally put an end to the problem before it strands us again. Finally, we drop anchor off beautiful Tanjung Kelayang Beach, catch our breath, and spend the afternoon clearing out of Indonesia before the next leg of our adventure.
