Day 3 Aboard FPY 70S Hull #1

Day three aboard FPY 70S hull #1—and I’m beginning to appreciate just how much her size changes the experience offshore. Most of my previous offshore sailing has been aboard 40–55-foot catamarans. I initially wondered how the additional size, volume and weight of the 70S would affect her performance, but out here, I’m seeing the other side of that equation. Her length and displacement allow her to move through the seas with a level of stability and composure that makes life on board noticeably more comfortable. We’re resting better, moving around more easily and even managed to sit down to a delicious meal prepared on board. Day three was an excellent one—and the more time I spend aboard this yacht, the more impressed I am by what she’s capable of. One final update to come before my time aboard comes to an end in Portimão and she continues on to the Cannes Yachting Festival. I’ll meet her there again in a few weeks, when she makes her official world debut at the show. Follow along—the journey isn’t over yet.
