In The Yard - “Building A Hull To Cross Oceans - Part 1 - Resin Infusion”
How do you build a hull to cross oceans? In this new In The Yard mini-series, Kraken videographer Stuart Wareing returns to Poland to follow the construction of a new Kraken 50. In Part 1, Stuart meets up with Kraken founder Dick Beaumont and joins Tosia, Kraken’s Lamination Manager, who shows him around the yard and explains the resin infusion process. From preparing the mould to checking the vacuum and watching the resin flow, we follow the work that transforms carefully laid layers of fibre into a yacht’s hull—a stage of construction that owners rarely get to see. In Part 2, we will return to the yard to follow the next stage: reinforcement. 00:00 Introduction 01:02 Dick Beaumont welcomes us to the Resin Infusion of a Kraken 50 hull 02:57 Antonina Żółtowska ‘Tosia’ describes the Preparation of the Mould 05:09 Tosia describes the dry fibres layup 06:23 Tosia describes the various specialist aramid and carbon fibre sheet materials used to reinforce specific areas, and also the core materials that are used in the construction of a Kraken’s hull 08:07 Tosia shows us the vacuum bag and other materials used to infuse the hull 10:07 Finally Tosia shows us the resin infusion process 11:59 Outro and introduction the to the next in the series 🔔 Subscribe to keep up with progress In The Yards, Q&As with Dick Beaumont, and more from the Kraken Yachts team. 👉 Learn more about Kraken Yachts: www.krakenyachts.com 📩 Get in touch: sales@krakenyachts.com 📸 Follow us: Facebook: / krakenyachts Instagram: / kraken_yachts #KrakenYachts #Kraken50 #BluewaterCruising #SailingYacht #OffshoreSailing #DickBeaumont #CrossingOceans
