day 19 sailing solo across the atlantic

Today was supposed to be a big celebration day. I officially sailed the first 2,000 nautical miles of this journey. Halfway through my sail. Which is kind of wild when I think about it. That part felt amazing. I was really proud of that moment. But the truth is, the day didn’t feel as joyful as I expected it to. Last night I barely slept. The boat was moving a lot and I just couldn’t settle. One of those nights where something doesn’t quite feel right. I kept thinking maybe I should change the sails, maybe I should adjust something, maybe I should be doing something different. So I spent most of the night half-awake, listening to every movement of the boat. And when you start the day like that… it’s hard to feel fully excited about anything. I tried though. I put glitter on my face, wore a dress, and made myself a proper celebration meal. Nachos. One of my favorites. I really tried to make the moment feel special. But the energy of the day was just a little lower than I hoped. And strangely, that’s okay. Because the big difference is this: even though today felt a bit down, I never once felt like I couldn’t do this. Last week, a day like this would have spiraled into doubts about the whole project. The race. Everything. Today it was just… a down day. And that feels like progress too. Because out here it’s always going to be ups and downs.
