Breaking The Bowsprit In Heavy Gusts With The Flying Jib

It has been a few weeks without a decent sailing video, I can only aplogise. Firslty I was ill for a couple of weeks, then the van broke down and then we had to wait for the water in the lake to recede due to the huge amounts of rain we've been having. Today we finally make it back and we just get on the boat and sail. With heavy winds and me feeling a little rusty we go Jib and Mizzen to begin with, but the Mainsail goes up soon into the beat down the lake. We stop at Pirates cove where we set up the FLying jib to see how well it fairs in heavier winds. the winds today are OK for the flying jib, but its the gusts that we have to contend with and they put a huge straing on the bowsprit. We get right to the bottom of the lake where we see the river, feeding the lake is still as huge as I have ever seen it. Part 2 in he next video!!!
