Our fourth tips video, focused on some boatyard comparisons with a nostalgic visit to several around Chichester Harbour. We are on Ko-Fi! where you can support us for the cost of a coffee :-) https://ko-fi.com/sustainablesailing We visit Sparkes Marina, Sandy Point, Mengham Rythe Sailing Club, Wilsons Boatyard. Chichester Yacht Habour, Thornham Marina, Emsworth. Then we see how they compare in price to ABC Powermarine at Beaumaris. We see where Dave's Dad worked on: - a Caprice 19 foot https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/caprice-19 - an Eygthene 24 https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/eygthene-24 they kept several other boats over the years here Where Dave sailed his Optimist https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/optimist-dinghy-int and sailboards (joined by Jane). We also sailed the first boat we owned together which was a Hornet https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hornet (with sliding seat). We kept our Jaguar 21 here: https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/jaguar-21 and then refitted our Hirondelle Mk1 https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hirondelle-mki Later we also sailed our shared Laser 16 here: https://www.yachtsandyachting.com/class/Laser-16 We are refitting a 1977 Rival 38 for a Sustainable Sailing retirement in a few years. Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings. We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). Now that the inside is dry (thanks to new windows, new hatches and leak chasing) we are fitting her out for live-aboard world cruising. Lots more detail on our blog at https://sustainablesailing.net/
