Maquemo Atoll is one of the larger atolls in the Tuamotus, has two amazing passes to dive and spearfish, and many lovely motus. Maquemo boasts thousands of sharks of different species (most common are black tip, white tip & grey reef - more dangerous) which have the habit of feeding of the boats stern and also of snatching your fish just after you have caught it, making your stay there all that more exciting! Its ¨motus¨ (islands growing out of the atoll reef) are stunningly beautiful, reminiscent of what might have been Robinson Crusoe´s Island in Daniel Defoe´s book and imagination. This book first published in 1719 as Polynesia was being explored and discovered by Europeans.
