69. SCARIEST MOMENT OF OUR LIVES (MAYDAY Called) | Learning the Lines

In this vlog we broke the first rule of seamanship: beware the land. We made a few HUGE mistakes including but not limited to: 1. Failing to plan 2. Trying to go into an unknown anchorage at night 3. Not turning back when we saw breakers on both sides of the channel 4. Trusting the GPS WAY more than we should have Hands down we were foolhardy, we made multiple mistakes, and we got the reality check we needed to learn from our behavior. We came out a lot better off than maybe we deserved. We could have easily lost the boat, and although Freebie is insured, that still would have been horrible for us, for you, and for those involved in pulling the boat off the shore. Going forward, we won't underestimate what the land can do to ocean-going vessels, and we'll be sure to constantly tread lightly and with care to not make these same mistakes again.
