6 Months After Buying a Sailboat: From Total Beginners to Bluewater Cruisers

Six months ago, we bought a sailboat… even though we barely knew how to sail. We’re Camille and Jesse — an American & Australian couple who quit a “normal” life, lived in a car, and worked in the Australian mines for a year and a half just to save every dollar for one dream: buying a sailboat and learning as we go. This video is a full six-month recap of everything that happened after we bought Stella in Malaysia — the good, the bad, the terrifying, and the unforgettable. From leaking gearboxes, engine removals, electrical failures, and exploding toilets… to our first sails, first anchor nights, storms, medical emergencies, climbing the mast underway, and crossing international borders at the tail end of monsoon season. We went from total beginners to sailing across countries, battling 40-knot winds, dragging anchor at night, getting fishing nets wrapped around our prop, and discovering some of the most beautiful islands we’ve ever seen — all while adopting a tiny kitten who somehow became the captain of the boat.
