43 MAKE MY DAY - Peniche
After sailing down the coast of Portugal, we arrive in the surfer's paradise of Peniche. Leontien's nephew Ricardo and his girlfriend Fanne are on their own land based adventure with a camper. They are here surfing in Peniche. So we sailed down to meet up with them. The features that make Peniche a surfer's paradise are the deep and steep canyons that run along this section of the Portuguese coast. Nazaré, which is just north of Peniche holds the record for the largest wave ever surfed. An astounding 30.9 meters.This underwater terrain however, makes it a little more challenging for sailors. We make a tour of the area on foot and film the rough and rugged beauty of this place. Ricardo and Fanne join us when we leave Peniche and sail down to Cascais. It was fun to have some other crew with us for once. It had been a long time since anyone sailed with us. Music: Troy and Paula Haag solitary ZEBRA
