#34 - YACHT restoration plans REVEALED

Revealing our plans for resorting our yacht. This week we detail how we see the next 12 to 18 months going and how we plan to tackle the restoration project. We're governed by various factors including the weather, work commitments, money of course and family, childcare and the ever pervasive COVID. But we're plugging along and the plan is this Spring and Summer 2021 Get the Mast down. Get all the welding done. Get all the painting done. Get the Engine Serviced. Get the Steering Sorted. Service the mast sheaves etc. Autumn 2021 Get the Mast Back Up. Sort the running Rigging. Work on the Solar Arch and Davits. Winter 2021 to 2022 Interior Woodwork, Electrical and Plumbing. Spring 2022 Possible Splash. We're fully aware boat projects take twice to three times longer than you think and cost twice or three times what you expect. So we're anticipating that and if the list above takes til 2023 then that's fine but we have to set a goal and have some sort of time scale in mind. We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, and for the past couple of years we have been looking for a bluewater sailing yacht to take us around the world. Well we've finally found her. Our new sailing yacht is a John Teal designed 38ft Steel Pilothouse Cutter. She has been standing ashore for at least 15 years and now we're embarking on the huge challenge of refitting her and doing her up ready to go sailing around the world.
