2026 Firefly UK Nationals at Tenby Day 1 - What is a 116-boat gate start really like?!

The 80th Anniversary Firefly Championship has begun at Tenby Sailing Club in Wales with 116 boats competing. For most races the fleet is using gate starts, where a pathfinder starts on port tack with a RIB just behind them, and every other competitor needs to start behind them. We take a look at what it's like to approach the gate on starboard in such a big fleet.
