10 Day Liveaboard in The Last Paradise. Raja Ampat A 10 day liveaboard in Raja Ampat will offer you around 30-32 dives in total. During these 10 days you will most likely visit Misool (South Raja Ampat) and Central Raja Ampat. The dive site around Misool are quite different than the dive sites in Central Raja Ampat. They tend to be more vertical sites. Very steep slopes and walls. Because of this topography it is more easy to navigate the sites and to stay out of any strong current that might be present during your dive. Yes, there are very strong currents at times. Especially during new, and full moon. So if your Liveaboard trip is planned during these times, be mentally prepared for strong current and make sure you packed the correct fins. Even though you are easily able to hide from the currents in Misool, I would encourage everyone to embrace them. In these currents is where you will find the most fish and fish action. "No current, no life" as they say here in Indonesia. In Central Raja Ampat the topography of the dive sites are gentle slopes with stunning hard coral in the shallow reefs. Here you will also most likely encounter very big schools of fish. Unfortunately, currently (late 2023 to early 2024) there is mass coral bleaching happening in the Dampier Straights. From my personal experience, the water temperature during the early part of the 2023 season was way too warm. Up to 32 deg celsius at times. That's almost 90 deg Fahrenheit! The beginning of 2024, myself and the crew I work with have noticed a slight drop in water temperature. So hopefully that will continue and the coral will start to recover at some point.
